Pair of antique walnut Louis XV Bergeres

This demure pair of Louis XV-style walnut bergère armchairs date from the 18th century,  beautifully constructed with a shapely 'cabriolet' back for comfort. The frames are intricately carved and sculpted, with floral flourishes at the crest and at the center of the ornately curved apron. The armrests are generous and padded, featuring attractive scroll designs on their corners, which echo the carvings on the cabriole legs. The chairs are upholstered in a tan and camel nailhead fabric, with the cusion verso and back in a lovely tight plaid cotton, secured all round with a nailhead trim. Each chair is completed with a generous and lofted down wrapped removable seat cushion.
